Prince Aemond Targaryen: A Kinslayer in the Dance of the Dragons
Aemond One-Eye
Aemond Targaryen, known as Aemond One-Eye, was a prince of House Targaryen. He was the second son and third child of King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower.
The Dance of the Dragons
In 129 AC, when Aemond was nineteen years old, his father died. The succession passed to his half-sister, Rhaenyra Targaryen, but Aemond's mother and others supported his claim to the throne. This dispute led to a civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.
Aemond's Death
During the Dance of the Dragons, Aemond killed his half-brother, Lucerys Velaryon. This act earned him the epithet "Kinslayer." Aemond himself was killed later in the war, by Daemon Targaryen.
